Drag. Dance. Diva

What would Pride be without the drag queens, the dancing and … the divas? You’ll get all that and more at the Pride Festival on the Boston Common following the march and at the block parties held throughout Pride weekend. What follows is your guide to the entertainment.

Alyson

Proving yet again that dropping the last name makes a star, L.A.-based singer/performer Alyson is one of the biggest draws to this year’s Pride week. Alyson returns to her Brookline roots on the heels of a hugely successful debut album, last year’s Take a Good Look. The 15-song album produced four songs, including three top ten Billboard hits: “Feel You,” “Nothin' More to Say” and “Take a Good Look.” In 2005, she was nominated as Best New Artist for the International Dance Music Awards. Her story is a Hollywood fairytale. Within weeks of landing in L.A. in 2004, Alyson met and started writing music with her producer Daveed. Not one to fall into the trap of big record labels, Alyson released Take a Good Look and immediately started the dance concert circuit. As a result, Billboard named Alyson a Top 20 Artist of the Year for 2005. Her remixes have appeared on White Party Vol. 6, Gay Happenings Vols. 12 & 13, and White Party USA Vol. 3. She performs late night June 10 at Buzz Boston  and at the Esmé block party June 10 at 5 p.m.
