"Take A Good Look" at Rising Pop Star Alyson
"Take A Good Look" at Rising Pop Star AlysonTake a good look... that's exactly what people have been doing ever since Alyson's first commercially-released single, released on her own label, incredibly hit the Top 5 on Billboard at #4. Alyson has become a pioneer for a new breed of Dance/Pop Artists who refuse to rely on record labels to make them famous. These artists are writing, producing, distributing and promoting their own music – and making hits!

"Due to the state of flux that the record industry is in today, artists have to be prepared to take matters into their own hands," says Alyson. She's proving it can be done.

Alyson's first record, "Baby Come Back", released in promo form to club DJs only, rapidly climbed the DJ charts, hitting #1 on the Breakin' Da Hits Urban chart. Her second single, her first commercially released record, "What're You Gonna Do", premiered on the Billboard Dance chart as a #3 breakout song and in September 2004, landed on Billboard's Top Five at #4. It was recently picked up by radio worldwide.

"These last few months have been incredible," says Alyson. "The success that we enjoyed with the first two songs inspired my producer, Daveed, and me tremendously while we worked on completing the album. I'm so proud of the finished product. The songs are straight from my gut. They're personal and real. I think people are going to love it."

Alyson's next single, which appears on and will be simultaneously released with the "Take A Good Look" album, is the kinetically charged hands-in-the-air party anthem, "Feel You", with remixes by Superstar DJs Ralphi Rosario and E-Smoove. "Feel You" is the #1 Breakout on the November 13th Billboard Dance Chart and is already been compared to Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" for it's commercially charged beat, memorable hook, and its strong crossover potential. In September, the album version began spinning worldwide in Abercrombie and Fitch stores.

"I love being compared to Kylie," says Alyson. "I respect her and her accomplishments very much. Still, it's important to me that I'm seen for who I am. I'm not trying to replace anyone or follow someone else's path. I want to make my own footsteps, tear down my own barriers.

"That said, would I love 'Feel You' to crossover from dance to Top 40 radio as Kylie and 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' did? Hell yeah!"

Alyson's fierce-driven, independent nature is a product of both her New York upbringing and parents who encouraged her to explore her creative side at an early age. She's been singing, dancing and acting for as long as she can remember.

"In New York, I'd pick up dance mix tapes on the streets from vendors," says Alyson. "Of course, I don't do that today now that I know it cheats the artists out of their income, but I'd listen to those dance mix tapes obsessively. I related whole-heartedly to the music. It became a big part of who I am."

Two years ago, when Alyson moved to Los Angeles and met her producer and co-writer, Daveed, she set out to incorporate her love of dance music into her album. "I also brought in R&B, Soul and Pop but dance music is definitely the predominant element." Alyson continues, "I'm constantly asked to define my sound. Defining sound into words is difficult, but I guess overall I'd say my sound is soulful, passionate and from the heart."

"Take A Good Look" features 13 sultry tracks, including the original versions of "Baby Come Back", "What're You Gonna Do" and "Feel You". The CD is available in stores now.
