Pop recording artist
Alyson battled successfully against the Goliath of corporate record
label moguls to emerge as one of the most inspirational music
heroines of our times.
A resolute follower of D.I.Y ethos,
Alyson released her freshman album "Take A Good Look" through her
own indie label PM Media , slowly but steadily building a devout
grass-roots following on the strength of a relentless record pool
push, business smarts and tour schedule performing at some of the
hottest dance clubs and dance events across the country.
How? Simply by turning to the expertise of some of the most
prominent Latin remixers in the country such as Hex Hector and
Ralphi Rosario.
Since hopping onto the dance scene in the
mid-2004,the proclaimed "diva in the making" has enjoyed a string of
consecutive singles cracking the Billboard Dance Chart's Top 10.
Three to be exact! And a recent #1 spot on DJ Times Dance Crossover
Charts with her third single "Nothing More to Say" which also
debuted at #1 on the US National Dance Chart.
But how does a
little know artist gets to record a full album, release three hit
singles, secure some airplay across the country, perform at
high-profile events including Gay Pride Los Angeles, collaborate
with Grammy-Award winning Latin DJ/Producer Hex Hector as well as
Ralphi Rosario, team-up with the legendary singer/songwriter duo
Denny Randell and Biddy Schippers to write song for her sophomore
album, and receive a nomination for "Best New Dance Artist" at this
year's International Dance Music Awards at the Miami Winter Music
Conference?
Indeed, the main element that makes her rapid
rise to stardom all the more remarkable is that she has done it all
on her own. While rock music has seen a recent influx of successful
indie artists, the Do-It-Yourself approach is all but nonexistent in
the world of mainstream dance music. But Alyson may be changing all
that. This NY native's proactivity is certainly scorching a path for
upstarts to follow.
Upon moving to LA from NY, Alyson met
Daveed and began a writer/producer relationship which has lasted to
this day. Wanting to get her music out as soon as possible,Alyson
sidestepped labels altogether. Thus began her self-education. After
reading countless books and doing internet research, Alyson set out
to meet with as many people in the business as she could, from indie
labels, promoters to distributors, just trying to pick their brains
on how everything worked. Her sense of entrepreneurship and
marketing expertise recently culminated in the PM Media signings of
a major national retail distribution deal and a worldwide digital
distribution deal. "Take A Good Look" is now available in most
retail stores across the U.S. including Virgin Megastore, Tower,
Wherehouse, Barnes and Noble and Borders, and at most online
retailers including iTunes, Amazon.com, Tower.com and many more.
The 15-track debut album "Take a Good Look" which vaulted
her from anonymity to notoriety, is now enjoying more than a "good
look", and rightfully receiving a good listen. She delivers a loose,
tour-de-force vocal that simmers alongside a steroid-charged
Pop/Dance musical backdrop that is energetic, fast and furious. A
sublime balladeer, Alyson also crafted sterling R&B/Pop flavored
slow and mid-tempo tracks, offering a cocktail of soulful, sexy,
funky, poetic and passionate sounds that are a feast to the ear.
Alyson is truly proving that there is momentum in the world
of the independents and that a little bit goes a long way. She is
smartly using the technology of today to promote and sell her
record; from indie distribution, club promotion to digital access,
Alyson is successfully by-passing the support of the majors,
mastering all the right weapons in her arsenal to shoot herself to
the top. With worldwide distribution now in place and plans for a
second album to be released in the Spring of 2006, this artist
entrepreneur hints at releasing other artists' material under the PM
Media jacket.
From daytime label executive to overnight pop
phenomenon, Alyson's climb to the top of the charts is nothing less
than one of the most inspiring success stories and proof that
motivation and dedication do pay off.
